The title seems a tad self serving, doesn’t it? It’s not meant to be. It was intended to be “the year of you”, but I realized this was a more internalized blog post than a self-help one. Just know that this is the year of you, whenever you’re reading this. And you an do anything.

I want you to know that I’m trying. After struggling with motivation for a while, and then traveling for two weeks, I’m sincerely trying to get back into the swing of things. I’ve never been good at being a very hard worker unless I have a boss that can fire me, which is ironic given that I never want to work for anyone but myself, but I have big dreams and big plans for myself, and I expect myself to achieve them all. One of them is bringing this blog to new heights in the new year, and to make it and my videos compliment each other (at least some of the time).

I intended on kicking off the new year first with a post all about how 2014 was the best year of my life so far, how I lived in three different countries and visited ten and I’m finally living the life I always wanted as a little girl, but then it got to be January 5th and that seemed a bit late. Then I meant to start writing a blog post about each place that I went to over the holidays and post them each Friday along with the vlogs that I’m making about them, and I’ve gotten a few paragraphs into the first one about Amsterdam, but honestly it just began to feel like work, and as I said, I’ve never been very good at being a hard worker.

I may still finish that Amsterdam blog, it’s up in a tab (along with twelve others…), or I may just post the vlogs on this blog so you can see them without being subscribed to my youtube channel. I’m not giving up on this blog though. I’m quite fond of having this sort of online diary that you all read and comment on from time to time, I just haven’t quite figured out where I want it to go yet. What do you think? Yes, you, reading this now. Should this continue to be word vomit and the occasional cultural conundrum? Or should I take this to a more professional, actual travel/writing blog? Those both will always be featured here of course, as they are big parts of my life.

Maybe part of why things I enjoy feel like work is that it doesn’t quite feel like a new inspiring year yet. I’m inspired, and I definitely celebrated on New Year’s Eve, but since I got back I’ve indulged my introverted personality with days alone in my room watching youtubers and sorting my presents. Twelve days was a long time for an introvert like myself to spend traveling with friends, and another friend comes to visit for two weeks in…23.5 hours, so I needed some major down time. I have new year’s resolutions, though I prefer to call them goals, and I have to consult a paper to even remember what they are still, but I have them, and I’d like to share them with you. The year of me entails:

  • going down one clothing size
  • writing at least half of my book
  • interning somewhere at some point
  • posting at least one video every week
  • posting at least three blog posts every week
  • focusing on quality over quantity of everything I do
  • and lastly, smile more

So there you have it, the year of working on me and my goals. This blog began with its title under the belief that if we work hard enough, we can achieve our wildest dreams. I have always believed that, and I never will stop. You’re just going to have to bare with me while I struggle to do the work part (I never stop the dreaming and thinking parts).

Hopefully through posting three times a week I will figure out what direction this blog is going in, but please do leave a comment about what you would like to see from me this new year, as well as your goals/resolutions for the new year of you, and how you’re going to dream, think, and work towards them. I’d love to hear about it!

Lastly, I’ll leave you with the quote on the beautiful leather journal my cousins gave me for Christmas:

“All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them” – Walt Disney
