little by little

little by little she played with her fiddle
though the sound was awfully bad
her fingers were sore, her arms giving up
but still she refused to be sad

she’d pluck and she’d tune, sat alone in her room
the neighbours all thinking her mad
she had dreams you see, of full concert halls
and she knew hard work must be had
